Forever Holme Part V The Wild Rose

Forever Holme Int. Night. 2

On the landing outside of the bedroom Perceval waits for his brother. He is very angry, his face red and his eyes streaming with tears. He glances at a vase and it throws itself against the far wall. His very image seems to be changing... his skin glowing... untill strangely he takes on a sort of calmness. Elijah exits the room and sees the broken vase reminding him of a past encounter with Perceval. He quietly closes the door behind him. Perceval leans on the bannister thoughtfully.3

PERCEVAL:4

So... tell me how you did it Elijah? 5

ELIJAH:6

PERCEVAL:8

I am not an idiot. You are that childs father.9

ELIJAH:10

How could I be? I have never seen her before in my life.11

PERCEVAL:12

Yet I am not his father... I can't connect with it the way you can... why is that? When did you sleep with her.. WHEN DID YOU SLEEP WITH MY WIFE?13

ELIJAH:14

PERCEVAL:16

She must have been already pregnant when she turned up here.. you tricked me Elijah, you tricked me.. and you tried to stop me having my Magic Child... didn't you?17

ELIJAH:18

I did no such thing. I haven't seen her before... not.. not in this lifetime...19

PERCEVAL:20

(Elijah turns his back on him and starts to walk downstairs. Enraged Perceval grabs hold of him and with a roar throws him down the stairwell again.)24

PERCEVAL:25

You Bastard! 26

(Perceval gazes wide eyed as there is no sound of impact, and looking down the stairwell he cannot see Elijah anywhere. He is angry yet puzzled and confused.)27

PERCEVAL:28

Where are you...? You cowardly swine where are you? (long pause) I'll have you... come out ... come out...29

(Suddenly he hears Elijah's voice behind him. Elijah is sitting on the stairs arms folded. His eyes are very great and light.)30

ELIJAH:31

Poor Perceval... Poor Earl of Rosemont, what is it you think you can do? Simply because you host Cassimolar... the Great Earl of Hell...32

(Perceval turns around and sees Elijah too is hosting a Daemon. He stares and paces back and forth... waiting for him to do or say something. Elijah stands up slowly.)33

ELIJAH:34

I met with our... very distant relative... *smiles* Sort of .. father to our seed. Count St. Germain. He told me everything. 35

PERCEVAL:36

Everything?37

ELIJAH:38

Absolutely everything. I have the Mantle of the Prophet Perceval... the one thing you need to become Omnipotent. I am its guardian, its protector, it was placed in my safekeeping so that I could keep it from you. 39

PERCEVAL:40

The Philosophers stone...41

ELIJAH:42

Indeed. Told me about Lilith... about who you really are... Son of Lilith... 43

PERCEVAL:44

We are all sons of Lilith Elijah... that includes you... *grins* remember we are twins. 45

ELIJAH:46

And I was built for the purposes of hosting a Daemon.. just as you were.47

PERCEVAL:48

ELIJAH:50

But you see.. you've become too big for your boots.. as they say. There's only one omnipotent and omnipresent being in the universe, there can never be two.51

PERCEVAL:52

NOT Jehovah.. something much bigger... you couldn't comprehend it Perceval Rosemont... Cassimolar.. your eyes are not strong enough to see.. your mind incapable of understanding its complexities.. and I .. am its Archangel... 55

(Shows Perceval the Archangel ring, it seems to glint in the reflections from the moonlight from the window. Perceval appears fearful at first, his eyes widen as he looks at the ring...)56

PERCEVAL:57

Ar..Archangel?58

ELIJAH:59

I will stop you, I will stand in your way, a stone that makes you stumble... a rock that makes you fall.60

(Long silence)61

PERCEVAL:62

Then you must be the light bringer... the stone...63

ELIJAH:64

Yes... you guessed it. But like you... it is only sometimes. *Smiles* Unlike you.. I can control it. I am Luxifer... I am the stone... 65

PERCEVAL:66

Then it is over... 67

(Perceval shakes his head in anguish, the prospect of not being omnipotent is like a bereavement. The Daemon seems to retreat from Perceval, who collapses on the stairs almost faints and grabs hold of the bannister. Elijah returns to normal very quickly and runs to his aid.)68

ELIJAH:69

Perceval! Perceval are you alright?70

(Perceval is white as a sheet and unable to remember the last few minutes since they were at Rachel's bedside. He tries to get up.. pulling himself up against the bannister. Elijah sits him down.)71

PERCEVAL:72

What are we doing here... how did we get out here.. what?73

ELIJAH:74

You ... don't remember?... Are you alright?75

(Perceval buries his head in his hands.)76

PERCEVAL:77

Not again.. they are becoming so frequent.. I feel I may lose myself and never be able to come back...78

ELIJAH:79

How do you feel about an Exorcism?80

PERCEVAL:81

Has it become so bad Elijah that I need to have an Exorcism? (sniffs) I don't know what to do.. I.. (pauses) Rachel.. how is she?82

ELIJAH:83

She is fine. She'll be up and about in no time. However the child will be born any day now. Could even be tonight. We must keep an eye on her.84

PERCEVAL85

(Nods) I ... am sorry Elijah.. for everything... 86

ELIJAH87

(nods) I understand. It can't be easy for you either. (sits next to him, backs against the wood pannelling on the landing.)
Remember when we were kids? (grins) Best years of our lives.88

PERCEVAL89

How can you say that? My.. our father was a bastard...90

ELIJAH91

Aye.. but that aside... we had some pretty good times you and me. You're the only brother I have.. you were my best friend.92

PERCEVAL93

(they exchange looks. They are so alike, and yet Elijah is darker coloured.)95

ELIJAH96

Almost like looking in a mirror. (chuckles)97

PERCEVAL98

I know. (stares) He comes to me through the mirror...99

ELIJAH100

(looks thoughtful) Do you know her? Have you seen her before?107

ELIJAH108

Its just the way you reacted... 111

ELIJAH112

I know. Maybe I am reminded of someone in the past.. maybe. Don't worry Perceval I am not here to steal your wife or your child. I came back to help...and I will help. I promise.113

(Elijah places a reassuring hand upon his brothers shoulder and goes back into the bedroom to help Rachel. Perceval's eyes light up unseen by Elijah and his hands grip the bannister.)114

PERCEVAL115

(Perceval smiles sadistically.)117

CUT TO: The Kitchen at Forever Holme. Allie is making some supper for Perceval and Elijah. Elijah walks into the kitchen.118

ELIJAH119

Hello again Allie. 120

(Allie turns around and gives him a big hug like a mother who has not seen her son for a long time.)121

ALLIE122

Elijah, so good to see you again. I haven't heard from you or seen you in years.. I .. thought I might die and never see you again...123

(He hugs her and squeezes her)124

Its so good to be home and to see you again. I have missed you Allie, I really have.. and I've missed this old place.126
