Forever Holme Part III The Rosicrucian

(It is a very cold and rainy day. Elijah is out in the deserted La Rue Valente. He lets the rain fall down on him. His eyes are closed. He looks up and lets it fall on his face. He feels very good, and smiles and sighs. He turns around and with anticipation he walks back inside the Grand Lodge. The door closes behind him and as he enters, he is beckoned by Germain to the room he was in the previous night.)4

GERMAIN:5

Are you ready Elijah?6

ELIJAH:7

Yes.. now I am ready.. 8

GERMAIN:9

Said your goodbyes to the world you knew. Everything is about to change for you.10

(Elijah watches what he is doing. From a closet nearby Germain takes out a beautiful velvet dark red robe with a hood on it and hands it to Elijah.)11

GERMAIN:12

Get changed, we'll meet you in the hallway. You have to wait to be led into the temple. Chin up young man... (smiles and leaves)13

(Elijah tentatively gets changed into his robe and does as Germain says and waits by the door to the temple for the others to meet him there. Two of them approach and stand side by side him. A third ties a blindfold over his eyes and puts the hood up over his head.)14

Do not be alarmed sir... this is only part of the ritual... for one must walk in darkness before he can see the light. Fear not...16

(The enormous door to the temple opens with a loud creak. It is decorated in pure white and the light in there shines out like a doorway to heaven. We see Elijah being taken inside and hear these words whispered over the images. "Who bringeth this child of darkness unto the light that he may pass unto eternity?" The images thereafter will show him being initiated into the fraternity but no words will be heard, suggest this is overlayed with music such as "Theme from Exodus" We shall see him being led around the temple and answering certain questions and even a sword held to his neck, and then he is made to kneel before the altar and take off his blindfold. The whiteness and the light of the temple strains his eyes and he has to shield them for a moment till they get used to the brightness. Germain stands at the altar all dressed in white.)17

GERMAIN:18

And from darkness into light... he arrives.19

(there is a long silence before Germain speaks again)20

GERMAIN:21

Choose a name for thyself Elijah... what shall it be? For whatever thou choosest shall be thy duty unto this world... speak... tell us who you are...22

(There is a very long silence and Elijah looks upward to the light shining in through the enormous arched windows and all around him, the pristine white walls.)23

ELIJAH:24

Who am I...? I am he who liveth Forever.25

(There is whispering in the temple and Elijah's eyes change to a bright glowing green.)26

ELIJAH:27

Elijah is in a very dark room now and wearing a black suit, with his long dark hair tied in a bow. He is looking in a mirror at himself. There are others around him and one of them holds a black velvet box. Elijah doesn't know who this person is as his head is covered with a red hood.)37

This is yours. We had it made specially master. (bows)39

(Elijah looks at it as the Hood puts it down and makes to leave.)40

ELIJAH:41

Why don't you take your hood down? 42

(Long pause. The man half turns but doesn't say anything at first.)43

ELIJAH:44

Its not like I'm a stranger... not now.. right?45

Our identity must remain anonymous... master. Be happy that we are your people. 47

ELIJAH:48

I'd rather know who you are.. you seem familiar to me somehow...your voice.. the way you walk... You seem very familiar... almost like Joseph. 49

(There is a long silence. The Hood walks out and says nothiing. As he goes Elijah picks up the black velvet box and looks inside. There is a silver armour ring and inscribed in gothic letters along the middle is the word "Archangel". Alongside the ring is a pentagram pendant. He hesitates and then puts the pendant on first and then the Archangel ring. He is admiring it when it seems to give off a greenish light and it seems to fuse itself to his finger nd he cannot remove it. He tries two or three times but gives up. A whisper echoes round the room "Archangel.. archangel... archangel.." It stops as Germain enters the room. He too is dressed in an identical black suit.)50

GERMAIN:51

I see they gave you your Archangel ring. (Chuckles) I have one of those.. see?52

(He shows Elijah the ring on his hand which is identical)53

GERMAIN:54

An initiation ring. Not many have one of these... these are special.. 55

ELIJAH:56

Archangel ring? It appears to be stuck...57

GERMAIN:58

Yes.. that is the case. How do you feel after the initiation Elijah? Different?59

ELIJAH:60

Very.. its ...sort of hard to describe... but I'm more focussed... and I think I look... different too... (turns to the mirror) I feel stronger... (tries again to take the ring off)61

GERMAIN:62

I wouldn't bother... it is there forever. 63

(CUT TO)64

Elijah is sitting on the windowledge at the staircase. Rachel stands leaning against the wall. He shows her his Archangel ring. 66

ELIJAH:67

And this is it... haven't been able to take it off. I dont' think I want to either. 68

RACHEL:69

It's beautiful. I noticed it before. There is something unusual about it.. and your pendant? Do you have that?70

ELIJAH:71

I wear it yes... 72

(He opens his shirt collar a little and takes the pendant from round his neck and hands it to Rachel. It is a beautiful silver pendant and yet there seems to be a blue elecrical glow from time to time.)73

RACHEL:74

Wow... this is such an amazing thing... can I wear it?75

ELIJAH:76

Go ahead.. put it on...77

(She smiles and puts it on, and immediately upon doing so her body is filled with so much energy that she jumps and places her hand upon her chest)78

RACHEL:79

OOh.. Jesus.. Christ.. this is.. incredible I never felt anything like it.80

ELIJAH (Smiles and chuckles):81

How does it make you feel?82

RACHEL:83

Like nothing I ever felt in my life.. this is truly a magical pendant... my word.. I feel like I could fly or something. 84

(She starts to dance around laughing.. Elijah laughing with her)85

ELIJAH:86

That's good.. that's really good.87

RACHEL:88

And you thought I was a sorceress... this is definately enchanted... you're the magic one around here Elijah.. (laughs)89

(She doesn't look where she's going on steps too far back, almost falling down the stairs she has to steady herself so she doesn't fall. Elijah moves faster than lightening and grabs her with an urgency that frightens her)90

ELIJAH:91

RACHEL! Rachel.. careful you could fall! 92

(He holds her close to him too tight. Her face grows serious. As does his.)93

ELIJAH:94

You be careful, do you hear me?95

RACHEL:96

Let go of me... who do you think you are?97

(He looks into her eyes and she into his. He wants to say something but doesn't say it and gently lets her go.)98

ELIJAH:99

I'm sorry.. I'm very sorry.. I didn't mean to...100

RACHEL:101

And talking to me like I'm a child. What's gotten into you.. one minute you are happy as a lark and the next... 102

ELIJAH:103

Sorry its just that... I saw... (pauses and folds his arms. He looks distressed and suppressing it.) Forgive me.. I shouldn't be here... I shouldn't be here.. 104

(He goes down the stairs and along the corridor heading for the west side of the house. Rachel follows him wondering what on Earth he is doing now.)105

RACHEL:106

Elijah, wait, I'm sorry I didn't mean to upset you... wait a minute.. where are you going?107

(He looks like he is heading somewhere but stops abruptly, and looks very confused.)108

ELIJAH:109

What happened here? There is a wall... where is the west wing? 110

RACHEL:111

(Running up behind him) The west wing? There is no west wing.. well not now anyway.112

ELIJAH:113

No west wing? 114

(Long silence)115

RACHEL:116

Elijah, I'm sorry. You were only looking out for me back there and I shouldn't have snapped at you... can you forgive me?117

ELIJAH:118

No.. it is you who should forgive me... (takes her hand) I feel like a stranger in a strange land. Out of my own time... here in this... future. I expect I act very strange. It is confusing.119

RACHEL:120

I can understand that...(clasps her hand around his) We should go back into the parlour. Come on.. come on Eli.. I want to hear the rest of your story. Please?121

(He nods and turns to go with her.. occasionally looking back at where the west wing should be.)122

ELIJAH:123

What happened to the west wing?124

RACHEL:125

I'm not sure... I think there was a fire that destroyed almost half the house way back when... That was one of the reasons I didn't believe you were who you say you were. But it's okay.. come on.. its cold and there's a warm fire in the parlour.126

(They walk back to the parlour where the fire is warm. They settle down on the sofa and he takes her in his arms. She rests on his lap.)127

RACHEL:128

I want to hear all about how you got here Eli. All about your past and everything. 129

ELIJAH (worried): What did you mean when you said... you didn't believe I was who I said I was?130

RACHEL:131

Well... the Earl I know of called Elijah Levi DeCourt Rosemont was reported to have died in that fire. However if you are from the past as you say you are.. and I do believe you.. then there must have been some other reason for your disappearance. You are here.. so that must be it. 132

ELIJAH:133

He died?134

RACHEL:135

Yes but.. that can't be you.. it must be a mix up. Why did you go running off like that anyway? 136

ELIJAH:137

I don't know.. I felt I had done something wrong.. just wanted to.. do something.. I.. I'm sorry. 138

RACHEL:139

Oh you don't have to worry Eli... I feel so comfortable with you.. its something I can't explain. I may hate myself later for feeling this way.. but right now.. is the most beautiful moment of my life.. here with you.140

ELIJAH:141

Oh Rachel... (strokes her hair) You won't hate yourself for saying that. I... could say the same and mean it with every beat of my heart.. every ounce of my being.142

(There is a long silece and they gaze into each others eyes. It is some time before he speaks, and all the while he strokes her hair gently.)143

ELIJAH cont:144

You're so beautiful Rachel... I love you.. as I have always loved you.. I thank the lord for this moment in time... for you... 145

(She smiles.)146

RACHEL:147

Do you know what love is Elijah? Do you mean it?148

ELIJAH:149

Oh.. I know what love is... I have loved deeper than any man has ever loved... I know what you are thinking.150

RACHEL:151

What's that?152

ELIJAH:153

That I am from a time where love was easy, where men and women stayed married all their lives.. where life was simpler.. less complicated..where women were property and men were masters of all they survey... that I cannot possibly understand modern love... (pauses) But I do Rachel. I do. 154

CUT TO:155

Elijahs voice over:156

It was 1853 when things changed. I had been with AMORC for six years and had risen to the rank of Magus and I was also Imperetor of the order, second only to Germain. Then things started to happen... 157

1853 - La Rue Valente. Int Night. (we see this happening but hear Elijah's voice talking to Rachel. He is sitting at a writing desk when suddenly the Archangel ring on his right finger starts to glow green with a pulse and this worries him. He checks his pendant which is also pulsating. He stares at the wall wondering what is happening. He is suddenly changed, his eyes glowing green, he takes a deep breath and stands up in a hurry. His chair falls over and he has this terrible pain in his chest which incapacitates him and he collapses to his knees gasping for breath.. and only just manages to shout for help.)158

ELIJAH:159

Help me... help.. please.. someone..160

(A young man dashes in to his aid)161

Young man:162

Imperetor DeCourt... (turns and shouts) We need some help in here.. the master is hurt... 163

ELIJAH:164

No... no.. get me Germain.. please.. it is he whom I have to speak to... get him here.. please?165

Young man:166

What? No sir.. it looks like you are having a heart attack...167

ELIJAH:168

No.. please.. get Germain here.. this will pass.. I need to speak with him urgently.169

(The young man dashes out and meets Germain on the way in who exchanges a few words and then closes the door. Elijah drags himself to his feet and manages to stand up. Germain helps him to his chair.)170

GERMAIN:171

What is it? What's happened? Are you alright Elijah?172

ELIJAH:173

I can't explain it now Germain... something has happened...something I have never experienced in all my years.. I saw it as clear as day... 174

GERMAIN:175

What did you see?176

ELIJAH:177

My brother... he.. was with a lady. I saw them marry, I saw them exchange rings.. almost as if it was happening in front of me.. the images were so strong. I see that she is pregnant but he's beating her and beating her and beating her... he's trying to kill her.. When he beat her it was like he was beating me.. I felt the pain ... all of it...178

GERMAIN:179

You felt the pain?180

ELIJAH:181

Aye...each time he hit her it was like he hit me... look.. I have bruises... see? 182

(Elijah undoes his shirt button and shows Germain his arm, it is covered in bruises)183

ELIJAH:184

There is trouble at Forever Holme. I sense it now more than ever. I can almost feel every emotion that Perceval has... and do you know what he is feeling now Germain?185

GERMAIN:186

You must be calm.. try to block it out or you will never be able to focus...remember your training...187

ELIJAH:188

He's feeling such deep anguish and pain, such sadness.. deep deep hurt... and he's fearful of something.. and I can sense the dark power that lives within him .. and he's helpless against it. Is there not some way I can help him be free of this..? I feel it even now. I must do something.. for him.. for his wife.. for the baby alive inside of her...Or she'll die like our mother... like every Rosemont wife before her... I have to do something Germain...189

GERMAIN:190

Elijah.. stop... (long pause) The time has come for me to tell you the truth... to tell you what really happened.. and why your family was cursed... 191

(Elijah looks at Germain and pauses before calming down a little. He picks his chair up and sits at his writing desk, leans back.)192

ELIJAH:
Very well Germain. I'm listening.193

(There is a long silence before Germain speaks)194

GERMAIN:
There was once a man by the name of John Rosemont... he was a great.. great man.195

(Looks very dreamy, also stares off out the window for a moment, hardly looking at Elijah at all.)196

GERMAIN cont:
I had great plans for him... for he showed such... fire and passion beyond his years and intelligence... he was a great great man indeed.197

ELIJAH:
You? You had great plans for him? Am I to take it that you... are older than you seem?198

GERMAIN:
Ah well... yes that would be the case here yes. Much older. Where do you think your family gets that motto. Non omnis Moriar? Live Forever? (pauses) I had a love affair, one of many in my life but this one was special. She was other-worldly... you might say. I knew her by the name of Lilian. A poor girl she was, and yet there was something about her something I could not ignore. 199

ELIJAH:
What has this got to do with my family?200

GERMAIN:
She bore me a son. A fine boy he was, and just like her in every way, blond hair, blue eyes, he was perfect. She called him Johnathan. (long pause, looks into the distance dreamily)But I was a Count, a man of means, and she was a poor peasant girl. I would have married her.. yes.. but.. (pause) She wasn't all she seemed Elijah. Your brother Perceval and your father all were hosts to a demon. Well I have to say so was my Lilian... I should have realised but I was blinded by love and passion and our son Johnathan was the first Magic Child.201

ELIJAH:
Was Lilian a demon?202

GERMAIN:
Mother of all demons. And if I had realised... (pauses as he struggles to speak.) Her true name was Lilith. I.. I found out the truth of her past and realised she had tricked me. She had no mother nor father... and as it turned out I had inadvertantly caused her to come into being ... released her into this world. It was my fault. And so I had to reverse the magic that had brought her here in the first place and send her back. 203

ELIJAH:
And the child?204

GERMAIN:
I looked after his welfare, pulled some strings and got him an Earldom... even paid for his education and everything else. And no father was more proud. I had to change his name so no one would suspect I was still alive. I was just never there to see him grow up. Instead I employed someone to look after him and see to his every need. That lady was Jess DeCourt. Wonderful governess and all... and her husband was a member of our fraternity. All was good. 205

ELIJAH:
DeCourt? Jess DeCourt? Was she a gypsy?206

GERMAIN:
She was, as was her husband, Caleb his name was. They came to me, joined the fraternity and expressed a wish to settle down and leave their camp. My son had a charmed life, grew up, and eventually he too joined and I met him for the first time... in decades. 207

ELIJAH:
What... what happened?208

GERMAIN:
My son was too ambitious.. and stole some very important books from the lodge. In those days we had a lodge not far from Forever Holme. It was one of the first. (pause) No one told him he was a magic child and born for the purpose of hosting a demon..no one told him.. I didn't .. I wanted to keep it from him... but he believed he was the greatest magus on this Earth and he went too far. The demon he called up was not the most powerful, nor would I say the most terrible, but it was enough to take his body and change him from a loving son into a monster.209

(Long silence)210

GERMAIN cont:
In the process of stealing the books, Johnathan killed Jess's husband. He was guarding the temple that night and caught him in the act.211

ELIJAH:
He murdered Caleb?212

GERMAIN:
Yes.. he wanted the knowledge so badly, you see those books contained some potent information. There is a reason why most people cannot call up demons or... actually bring them to life and that's because they don't know about the keys... and so when people call them up all they can do is visualise them or feel a presence...the keys actually unlock the doors between their world and ours and he wanted them. (Pause) Caleb was a good man, a good Rosicrucian, and with his last breath.. his dying breath... he cursed the Rosemont family for generations. For if they could not have children they could not breed... with only one son for each generation any demon that Johnathan called up would have to either find a way to create that one magic child each generation or die and go straight back to where it came from. He was a genius. Sadly Caleb died.213

ELIJAH:
So.. I take it Johnathan did call up a demon and it took his body.. because he was a Magic Child?214

GERMAIN
Indeed it did. And there was nothing I could do to stop him. I wasn't there. I should have been there for him. I've felt guilty about it ever since. 215

ELIJAH:
And that also makes you... my ancestor.. Germain?216

GERMAIN:
Count St. Germain. Or some know me as La comte De St.Germain. And some also call me Non Omnis Moriar. (pause) That same motto adopted by the Rosemont family. Poor Caleb he did not know what that meant or the complications that could arise when he cursed them. In order for the demon to possess another body, the previous one it occupies has to burn. Otherwise it can't move on. So each Earl of Rosemont was mysteriously burned to death.217

ELIJAH:
Just like my father was. (pauses) And this is how my brother will die... and how I will die. It's just like I imagined. Fire will be my manner of passing. 218

GERMAIN:
But...you can stop this.. you alone can put an end to this.219

ELIJAH:
And how do you suggest I do that Germain? I am fighting against a demon... a potent curse and my own brother. We were very close once you know.220

GERMAIN (pauses):
I know it is a daunting task Elijah... perhaps I... shouldn't lay this on you. 221

ELIJAH:
Whats the name of the demon Johnathan called up?222

GERMAIN:
The Great Earl... the 69th Demon of the Goetia.. Glasyalabolas. Cassimolar.223

ELIJAH:
Is there more to it? Is it only that the Rosemonts host this demon and he must be stopped or is there more to it?224

GERMAIN:
Yes.. there is more. Your brother wishes to become omnipotent. Also in those books were the laws of time and creation.. encrypted and encoded as written down by the prophet Elijah the Tishbite.225

(He glances at Elijah and pauses, Elijah glances back.)226

GERMAIN:
We kept them all these millenia... If your brother was to decode the writings he would be able to open an aperture that would transport him either body , mind, spirit or perhaps all three of those, anywhere in time or space he would wish to go. If he were to succeed in becoming omnipotent he would no longer be the relatively innoculous demon he is now.. but a great and terrible Lord of destruction and flame. He could and would destroy existence in a heartbeat. The powers of Glasylabolas would be taught to men. And there is already knowledge of a great and terrible fire that can be brought forth that could devastate this Earth. I have seen it and I pray to the Lord that this can be stopped.227

ELIJAH:
If you... are the cause of all this... by your reckoning... you would be over three hundred years old. Am I right?228

GERMAIN:
And more. 229

ELIJAH:
How do you stay alive? 230

GERMAIN:
I have a secret. 231

CUT TO:
The Rosicrucian temple, int. night.
The temple is in darkness, Germain opens the door with a creak and he and Elijah go into it. They walk up the aisle towards the altar.232

GERMAIN:
You have heard of the stone of the philosophers, that elusive magical stone which can apparently turn lead into gold. I'm pretty sure it can.. except.. its more metaphoric than physical.233

ELIJAH:
Yes I have heard of it, but is it not a myth?234

GERMAIN:
Well some say yes. Which brings me to Elijah the Tishbite.235

ELIJAH:
Him again? (smiles)236

GERMAIN:
Him again. He had this mantle... remember? They called it the mantle of the prophet?237

ELIJAH:
Alright.. yes I read that in the scriptures. Not sure which chapter...238

GERMAIN:
Well... Elijah's mantle, most say it was a covering or a cloak of some desciption.239

ELIJAH:
Yes that is what most say it is. Do you say it is something... different Germain?240

GERMAIN:
I have something to show you. 241

(Germain goes to a small cabinet near the altar and takes out a little silver key)242

GERMAIN:
The word "mantle" has two meanings. There is the meaning that it is a cloak or a coat of some kind. Then of course there is the other meaning... mantle.. what lies between the Earths crust and the Earths core. Generally hot molten lava.. or mantle. You get some of that and cool it down.. and you have stone mantle. 243

ELIJAH:
What are you getting at Germain? 244

GERMAIN:
I think you know Elijah. 245

(Takes out something from the cabinet, it is covered in an embroidered red velvet cloth. Germain places it on the altar.)246

GERMAIN:
Elijah's mantle... wasn't a cloak at all. 247

ELIJAH:
Elijah's mantle was ... a stone?248

GERMAIN:
A very special stone.249

(begins to unwrap the object on the altar)250

ELIJAH:
Are you suggesting that Elijah's mantle was...251

GERMAIN:
The stone of the philosophers. 252

(He finishes unwrapping it and there on the altar is a black obsidian cubical stone, reflective on each side. They both stare at it for a moment and eventually Elijah picks it up and examines it.)253

ELIJAH:
This... is that stone?254

GERMAIN:
Elijah's mantle.. yes.255

ELIJAH:
How can you be sure? 256

GERMAIN:
Well... I have many reasons to be sure. I urge you to read once again the old testament. 257

ELIJAH:
Why?258

(Elijah continues to examine it.)259

(As Germain speaks we see a scene from the bible, of Joseph Vizier, who wore a coat of many colours. The camera zooms in close at his feet and moves slowly upward revealing the coat slowly as Germain speaks)261

GERMAIN:
One of the most obvious places to find it is in the story of Joseph Vizier and his so called coat of many colours.262

ELIJAH:
Are we to take coat as being mantle?263

GERMAIN:
The coat,or cloak is really mantle. Joseph didn't have a coat, it was a stone he had.264

(We see the same Joseph holding the obsidian cubical stone)265

GERMAIN:
And there's more. That "Coat" was of many colours. What do we know about rainbows Elijah?266

CUT TO:
The temple, Elijah still examining the stone.267

ELIJAH:
Rainbows are Gods promises... as pointed out in the story of Noahs ark.. the Lord made a rainbow as a promise that he would never flood the world again.268

GERMAIN:
So if many colours is a rainbow... then the coat of many colours is...269

ELIJAH:
The stone of Gods promise... 270

(Indicates the the stone in his hand and Germain nods)271

GERMAIN:
The..er.. metaphor goes much further. You see, stone in the eyes of the ancients was something that lasted forever. It was eternal and everlasting, and also their God was eternal and everlasting and so when they described God they would liken him onto stone as both are everlasting.272

ELIJAH:
Are you saying the stone is a metaphor for God?273

GERMAIN:
Correct. Also.. also... Gods promise can also be called a covenant so to speak.. therefore.. what you hold in your hand Elijah, is the Everlasting covenant... metaphorically speaking. When Elijah had that mantle, he walked with God. 274

ELIJAH:
But the stone isn't God... its a stone...275

GERMAIN:
The stone is knowledge Elijah. If the stone exists then God also exists. 276

ELIJAH:
I understand your reason. However, this stone itself is not God... my mind is having trouble making the connection. 277

(long pause as Germain thinks about what he has to say)278

GERMAIN:
The stone is not God, you are correct. However it is the closest you can get to God on this Earth. To represent that which is not physical in terms that are phyisical is one of the most difficult things to do. To further illustrate this we need to turn to the Qabalah. That which is at the very centre of Rosicrucianism. 279

(He takes out a book and turns a few pages till he comes to a representation of the Qabalah.)280

GERMAIN:
Qabalah... Jewish myth of creation. 281

(Elijah looks at it intently, and blinks a few times.)282

ELIJAH:
They've drawn it wrong... 283

GERMAIN:
Yes?284

ELIJAH:
It should be perfectly cubical...Germain... the Qabalah is drawn as a cube in perspective.. 285

GERMAIN:
Yes.. the 2 dimensional version of the Everlasting covenant. You see it now don't you?286

ELIJAH:
The stone is a 3 dimensional cube and Qabalah is a 2 dimensional representation of the same thing. 287

GERMAIN:
Correct. What else do you see?288

ELIJAH:
If you can draw a 2 dimensional version and have a stone cube as a 3 dimensional version then... if there are other dimensions.. then...289

GERMAIN
Go on...290

ELIJAH
Then... this must exist in many different dimensions.291

GERMAIN:
Correct again. I have learned over the years to manipulate those dimensions. It has taken me a very long time but I have worked it out. When you said they had drawn it wrong... what should it look like... in your view?292

ELIJAH:

What? No.. no Germain.. this is legend.. this was more than people seeing things in geometry and stones and metaphor.. these were real things.. the ark, the stone, the coat of many colours... 303

GERMAIN:

(Elijah is speechless, he cant take it all in and scarcely believes what he is hearing.)305

ELIJAH:

I.. have been known as Merlin yes. And... if you look at the Tarot cards you'll see one of the trump cards known as The Hermit. Again this is all myth and legend but I am human I assure you. Flesh and blood... see?340

(He indicates to self and prods Elijah on the shoulder.)341

ELIJAH:
How old... are you?342

GERMAIN:
Let's just say I am of an indeterminate age. 343

ELIJAH: (thoughtful silence)

(Long silence, Germain picks up the stone and offers it to Elijah.)345

GERMAIN:

(Elijah takes the stone from him)347

GERMAIN:

No.. no.. this isn't right. I.. I believe in Demons and things and I've seen them with my own eyes.. I've done a lot but.. b..but... 355

(Steps back from the altar, agitated, panicking a little, he raises his voice. He holds up his Archangel ring.)356

ELIJAH:
What are these rings for? How come only you and me have them?357

(Germain picks up the cubical stone and slowly walks towards him with it.)358

GERMAIN:
Don't worry Elijah, this is normal, the confusion you have, it is because your brain is opening up, you are at a state of realisation. Powerful isn't it? 359

(Elijah looks astonished at everything and his Archangel ring seems to glow bright white light as does Germains.)360

ELIJAH:
What's happening?361

GERMAIN:
You'll see. Don't worry all will become clear.362

(Elijah watches Germain as he seems to grow younger before his very eyes. His hair once grey becomes a golden blonde colour and his complexion changes. There also appears to be a light around his head making him glow a little.)363

ELIJAH:
Who are you? What do you want?364

GERMAIN:
A Carrier Pigeon....365

(Germain transforms. From nowhere wings appear underneath his arms and on his ankles, upon his head there appears to be a head dress, that of the appearance of a bird and feathers, he seems to grow much taller. Elijah is in awe and drops to his knees, tears roll down his face.)366

ELIJAH:
Who are you?367

(The answer suddenly is in his head. The words again "Carrier Pigeon" And he realises Germain is saying he is a messenger.)368

ELIJAH:
The messenger...the messenger... Hermes... 369

(Germain nods.)370

ELIJAH:
Hermes... Thoth... Metatron...371

(He nods again slowly. Elijah understands immediately as he once again offers the cubical stone to him. He takes it and watches the image of Hermes/Thoth flicker from being the Germain he knows to being a bird and sometimes both at the same time.)372

GERMAIN/HERMES:
Know thyself Elijah. Take the stone and make it your own. 373

ELIJAH:
Who... am I?374

GERMAIN/HERMES:

(Germain/Hermes closes his eyes and the light dies down. Elijah loses consciousness.)376

(Elijah is lying in bed, - close up of his face, his eyes are fixed and wide open, there is a strange light in his eyes. We then see from his point of view what he is seeing and it is the image of Germain/Hermes folding up like a peice of paper in front of him. Just before it disappears, Germain/Thoth grabs hold of his left arm and vanishes. A few moments later he "wakes up" having never closed his eyes. He sits up with a start, still dressed. He gets up and runs out of the door along the corridor in a panic. There is the same young man who helped him earlier.)378

YOUNG MAN:
Imperetor DeCourt.. sir...379

ELIJAH:
You... you there.. what's your name?380

YOUNG MAN:
Joshua, sir... 381

(Joshua seems concerned about him.)382

ELIJAH:
Joshua, tell me, do you know if Imperetor Germain is in his room?383

JOSHUA:
I.. I..384

ELIJAH: (impatient)
Answer me lad! (pause) I'm sorry... 385

JOSHUA:
Sir... I am sorry I thought you were told. 386

(There is a long silence, Joshua is trying to say something but finding it difficult.)387

ELIJAH:
Told what? Come on man, what is it?388

JOSHUA:
Imperetor Germain sir, he was found dead in his room a few hours ago... his body is in...389

ELIJAH:
The morgue?390

JOSHUA:
Yes sir...391

ELIJAH:
No.. it isn't...392

JOSHUA:

ELIJAH:
Do you have the keys to the morgue?394

JOSHUA:

ELIJAH:

(They hurry along to the morgue at great speed and Joshua unlocks the door. They rush in and Elijah rushes to a stone slab where the body would have lain. He throws the death shroud to the floor)397

ELIJAH:

(Joshua's eyes are open wide as he looks around. There is no sign of Germains body.)399

JOSHUA:
I.. don't believe it.. his body was right here. I helped them bring it here myelf! (he looks around bemused and a little frightened) He couldnt' have come back to life and walked out.. the door was locked.)400

ELIJAH:
Germain is gone... (looks up)401

JOSHUA:
Gone? Gone where?402

ELIJAH:
Heaven only knows Joshua... heaven only knows. Um... did...did you come to my aid earlier today Joshua... I was taken ill... was it you who came in?403

JOSHUA:
No sir. We were at the bedside of Imperetor Germain, I was one of those who helped move him and I assumed someone had told you and you were making arrangements.404

(Elijah leaves the morgue and rushes back to his room. Joshua locks up the morgue and follows him. In his room, Elijah lights the oil lamp so he can see better and there next to his bed is something wrapped in a red velvet embroidered cloth. He picks it up and unwraps the cloth slowly to reveal the black obsidian cubical stone. Joshua stands at the door which is ajar, peering in and he sees Elijah unwrapping the stone. He smiles in a sinister way. Elijah realises someone is watching him and he wraps the stone back up and runs to the door. There is no one there but there is the sound of footsteps running away.)405

ELIJAH:
Joshua? Hello? Hello?406

(There is an eerie silence. There is only the sound of wind blowing through the empty hall. It seems darker than usual and even foreboding. Elijah goes back into his room and gets the oil lamp. As he goes down the corridor he realises all the rooms are empty, the doors are open but there is no one there. All the Rosicrucians seem to have disappeared including Joshua.)407

ELIJAH:
Joshua? Anybody? Hello? Hello?408

CUT TO 409

FOREVER HOLME FOREST...OCTOBER 22nd, 1853. 410

Perceval Rosemont is out riding. He is atop a white horse and riding through the forest. He is wearing a golden embroidered riding coat, jodphurs and riding boots and has his hair tied in a ponytail. No riding hat. Suddenly he slows down, as if he senses something, the horse too appears to sense something and trots back and forth as he tries to control it.)411

PERCEVAL:
Easy girl... Easy Serendiptiy.. Easy... 412

(Eventually the horse calms down)413

PERCEVAL:
I know girl.. I sense it too.. a disturbance... something is not the same... something has changed... 414

(He rides at walking pace through the trees and fallen leaves and we see the horses hooves stop. Perceval leans forward on the horse and can see something. It appears to be a woman lying unconscious.)415

Well well well.. what do we have here? 416

(He dismounts and walks over to her and kneels down on one knee beside her. She is lying face down. He gently turns her over and we can see that this is Rachel. She is wearing the same clothes as we have seen her in. As Perceval turns her over she regains consicousness and the first thing she sees is him.)417
